unNatural Selection Podcast Launch
🚀 Announcing the Launch of the unNatural Selection Podcast: A Podcast About Innovation and Survival
I’m thrilled to announce the official launch of the unNatural Selection Podcast — where we explore innovation strategy through the lens of Survival of the Fittest.
This project has been a long time in the making, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you! The concept is simple: I sit down with pioneers from various industries to understand how they’ve not only survived but thrived by pushing the boundaries of innovation. Think of it as “Dirty Jobs”, but for innovation—exploring what it takes to succeed when the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Why unNatural Selection?
In today’s fast-evolving world, innovation isn’t just about having a great idea—it’s about resilience, adaptability, and survival. Whether it’s in technology, personal safety, or space exploration, the same principles apply: those who adapt thrive, and those who resist change risk extinction. On this podcast, I aim to uncover the strategies that help innovators stay ahead.
Launching with Three Dynamic Episodes
To kick off, we’re launching with three diverse episodes that demonstrate just how varied innovation can be:
The Big Picture That Kodak Missed
Steven Sasson, inventor of the handheld digital camera, shares how Kodak’s resistance to his breakthrough innovation marked a missed opportunity that ultimately led to its downfall. It’s a powerful lesson in corporate strategy and the dangers of protecting the status quo.
The Business of Survival—Lessons from the Front Lines of Self-Defense
Dennis Amato, a renowned Krav Maga and MMA trainer, explains how combat training teaches us to adapt to evolving threats. His insights on innovation and resilience in high-stakes environments have surprising applications for business leaders.
Innovating at the Edge of the Unknown
NASA’s first Chief Knowledge Officer, Dr. Ed Hoffman, takes us behind the scenes at one of the world’s most innovative organizations. We discuss how NASA approaches innovation when the smallest error can mean catastrophic failure—and how those lessons can translate to any industry.
